England defeated Iran with a score of 6-2 in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup.
Captain England shared on BBC:
"We have had a good start at the 2022 World Cup. However, I think England still needs to do better.
I'm very excited about today's results. But I think we still have room for improvement. We cannot concede two goals so easily. The England defense lacked concentration when the whole team actively reduced the tempo of the game.
Overall, for the first 60 minutes we controlled the game. The defense and midfield played well. Neither Declan Rice nor Jude Bellingham and the attacking players became a threat to the opponent's defence.
Looking at me right now I look like I'm disappointed. I should have been happy. But my job is to keep the team moving forward."
